Mixing & Mastering Cheat Sheet Binder

Very nice print but the most important part is the info. Very useful info. I've been a sound engineer for nearly 30 years and was looking for a quick way to reference things that I already knew and it's just decent for that. I'll keep it handy but overall I'm a tab bit underwhelmed. I do appreciate it for what it is and will hopeful get some use from it.

I received my copy last week and I have to congratulate Mastering.com not only on the quality of the content but also the physical book. It’s substantial and not too busy but it focuses on the different aspects of the mixing process which, for someone like me who keeps forgetting the details sometimes, is a handy reference guide to have at hand. I can highly recommend it.

I bought this product for our church Media Team. Most have never touched a soundboard before. I found the Cheat Sheet was a little too advanced for them. Since they are still new to sound mixing I am having to stop rehearsal and go back and help them through issues. It does come in handy for me when I am looking for a quick answer, but for my Team there needs to be perhaps a beginners guide to sound mixing.

This manual is exactly what I needed, the quality is top notch! I also love that I have a digital copy to look over when out and about, that way my physical copy will stay in the beautiful shape for years to come. The visual and text is perfect for when You need a quick reference for mixing and mastering!

I've been recording since 1970, starting with an Ampeg reel to reel and currently using a DAW (Pro Tools Studio) This binder, combined with their Compression and EQ courses had allowed me to go back and revisit a number of my earlier recordings and make significant improvements. This is a great and easy to use cheat sheet for all the little things that you might not remember or clearly understand. I've only just started using it but can clearly see its value. Nicely compiled into a durable product. I wish I had it years ago.

I just purchased Mixing and Mastering Cheat sheet and instantly my music started sounded better. Small things I never had thought of and a few big things I never knew. Love it!

Excellent info and very thorough!

I now have my processing power amp mixed so we'll I can hear every decibel of sound that was hidden below noise. I have an 800 watt system and it is an experience. It will play a giant part in digital composition for me, too. It's cool, and the binding really makes it worth it! It came right away!

Being a self taught sound person, I have learned from a college professor which his start was sound in a band, and the a studio/concert sound person I have learned but the Mix & Mastering Cheat Sheet has answered several question I have had. This will greatly improve the sound quality that I do now.

All my problems under one roof, happy days!

Is great every audio engineer should have

This is a highly functional guide to the process. The guide doesn't insist on what sounds good or otherwise, instead it helps the user obtain the finished product of what sounds good to them.

I have found this an excellent quick reference when you need a nudge!!!!

Very good free courses except the mixing and mastering seemed to go a bit fast to follow the Logic Pro actions especially the track grouping but overall very good content!

I really appreciate all the information you guys provided in the binder, however I think you guys should have demonstration videos in multiple DAW”S like FL Studios, Pro Tools etc.

Great Binder - so useful as an easy reference tool; gives you a basic platform from which you build a successful mix. Big fan of you guys - did the original Mastering course with Blake - and tune in when I can for videos - learnt so much. I use the binder throughout the process - in this image I am 'pre-studio' in my music room where I prep material.

Thank you for putting this information together. I’ve been collecting my notes and trying to create some kind of order out of them. You’ve done all of that for me, plus you’ve included things I would have missed. It’s so helpful to have everything in one place and in the right order to keep me on track. Plus my notes were loose and flying all around all the time. LOL!

This 30-page guide is a perfect handy reference to the fundamentals of mixing. Mastering.com provides a video series that accompanies the book, and honestly it's like I've found the missing puzzle pieces to my understanding of not just what to do, but the why behind it. It teaches you to think.

It's full of useful practical information, but is written with an engineer's mindset. I'm not sure how useful it is for artists who work more intuitively... It seems well laid out but does not breakdown many elements for the novice like me. For example for "Gain Staging" just exactly how does one achieve "levels for headroom" and how much headroom? How do we gauge that? You can't just make a statement without additional explanation of what it is you're saying. This COULD be a better tool if it had more detail and didn't assume one knew all the terms like "LUFS" and "dBFS". [i]Reply from Mastering.com: Hi Terry! Great binder with some really useful guidance as you proceed through the mix. Not yet used it as yet as moving home and about to set up my new studio. Set out is intuitive and clear.

I love it. As a drummer with very little working knowledge of recording and engineering this cheat sheet binder is a huge asset. Easy to understand and how and why to do things in pursuit of ones audio goals. I will highly recommend it to like minded musicians.

Hi Rob, I love all of the cheat-sheets. They have been especially useful now that I'm in the later sections of the Mastering course, IE: Limiter Stress Test, and Foundational sections as well. As you know there has been a lot of churn to these topics, and I've been trying to keep up with all of the revisions. Now that I have multiple versions of these documents at home, I see a need for revision numbers, versions, even something like "Mixing & Mastering Cheat Sheet Binder Version 4" on the cover would be helpful. Other than that, the content is top-notch! Thanks!

I know mixing becomes second nature, and it is an art that you have to learn for yourself beyond what anyone can teach you, but as someone who is starting out from ground 0, I purchased the mixing cheat sheet binder so I could use it along side a 10 week mixing class I am taking for a program I am in. Each week is a new concept and this binder has been amazing to have as a starting point reference. It is so well laid out and covers the most important things you need to know for each step of the mix. The pictures in it and where settings should start at before you tweak them to taste has been a life saver for me. Also I did not expect it to feel as high quality as it does lol. I was expecting laminated printed pages, but it physically feels and looks nice which is fun. It's sturdy so I dont have to worry too much about it when throwing it into my backpack.

Although I have been doing my own mixing for about 4 years now, I never had a good solid understanding of the ins and outs of getting that great mix. New to Mastering.com, but at a glaze, the information on the binder I purchase is very detailed and the tutorials and information system establish in this program will absolutely increase and improve the mystories of great sounding productions. Very satisfied thus far, and the community here is outstanding, so many great professionals and up and coming producers are here filled with ideas and egar to collaborate. Intuitive, easy to follow. I'm still learning as I mix

First off, I really like the info and layout, I'm interested in V2 as well. As I slowly ramp up my edu and investment. I keep thinking of what a client would be interested in as they work with me. I think parts of this booklet would be a great item for them. Gives good explinations and language that helps them communicate with me or any other engeneer and or producer. The only item that would finish the reference is to lamanate it. Keeps the coffee stains at bay.

The cheat sheet binder is great. Tons of useful information organized for quick reference. But what impressed me the most was the outstanding quality. Every page printed on durable card stock. It's worth every penny.

Excellent book of good tips and laid out very nicely. Could go deeper but i am sure that will come in the next edition.

I already knew about 50 percent of mixing going into this purchase. This is a great book and gives you understanding of compressors, limiters etc. it's easy to understand and I don't second guess myself. An engineer should always trust their ears and this book will get you the tools to get there.

Useful little folder for a quick insight when mixing alone into what’s needed .

The Mixing and Mastering Cheat Sheet Binder is a great asset, especially in combination with the accompanying Mastering.com 101 course and the online walkthrough session. Not only does the binder give a structured approach to mixing and mastering, and clear guidance on how to manipulate musical sound with the various tools (e.g. compressor, EQ, limiter) but also the why.

Great tool to keep around for novice up to advanced audio engineers and music producers. Good to self-check and remind you about fundamental principles in mixing and mastering, to include explanations of the why's behind the whats. Most importantly, it includes usable processes for applying the information in the cheat sheet. The booklet also includes information about common audio processing plug-ins or hardware units/tools used in mixing and mastering. If you are a visual learner, there are helpful videos with explanations that match the cheat sheet.
